Jean-Marc Grognet is a graduate in Pharmacy from Paris René-Descartes University where he also obtained a PhD in Molecular Pharmacology (1984). He holds an MBA from Sorbonne University.
Jean-Marc spent most of his career at Commissariat à l’Energie Atomique (Atomic Energy Commission, or CEA) which is one of France’s elite state organisations conducting basic and applied R&D across a number of fields. From 1985 to 2000, Jean-Marc headed his own research group at CEA on drug metabolism and clinical pharmacology. In 2003, Jean-Marc was appointed Scientific Director of CEA’s Technology Research Directorate driving research evaluation of over 2000 scientists.
Jean-Marc returned to CEA in 2011 as Director of the Institute of Biology and Biotechnology (which employs over 500 life scientists across 50 basic and applied R&D teams). In 2014, he was Director of CEA’s Technology Transfer Office for Life Sciences and then Director of CEA’s Institute of Biomedical Imaging in 2016.
Jean-Marc was appointed CEO of Genopole in February 2017.
Jean-Marc’s distinctions include being elected at France’s National Academy of Pharmacy (2008), as well as being awarded the medals of “Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mérite” (2011) and of “Chevalier de l’Ordre National de la Légion d’honneur” (2015).
